Let's Face the Music
The genius of Irving Berlin & Fred Astaire
'Irving Berlin has no place in American music. He is American music.' Jerome Kern.
'. . . Gershwin, Berlin, Kern and Porter . . .might never have written so many of their best songs if it hadn't been for the fact that Fred Astaire was going to sing them.'
Sammy Davis Jnr.
Giants of the 20th Century
These two musical giants of the 20th Century are paid tribute in a brand new show presented by Tony Jacobs along with some of his favourite musicians under the direction of saxophonist/clarinettist Sue Greenway (RAF Sqadronnaires, BBC Big Band, Syd Lawrence Orchestra and many West End shows).
At the piano is Tony's regular accompanist Jim Barry (BBC Radio Band) and on trombone is special guest Roger Rae (Syd Lawrence Orchestra, tours with Maynard Ferguson and ex-principal trombonist with the Scottish Radio Orchestra).
Songs include Top Hat, White Tie and Tales; Always; Puttin' On The Ritz; Cheek To Cheek; Alexander's Ragtime Band; How Deep Is The Ocean?; Change Partners; Isn't This A Lovely Day? and many others including a medley of songs that were introduced to the world by the inimitable Fred Astaire. This is an evening to remember!
