I am very fortunate to host and
participate in some wonderful musical events which were set up by Ray Lowman and
which continue to grow each year.
South Downs Holiday Village near Chichester, 2006 sees our eighth year of music
weekends. Last year’s September event was sold out and next year’s events seem
to be going the same way!
Our SWING INTO SPRING Weekend - April 28th - May 1st once again has some great
cabaret, jazz and swing shows.
Guests include regular - and hugely popular - ELEANOR KEENAN in cabaret with the
Phil Phillips Swingtet.
Making their first appearance at South Downs is THE CHARLESTON CHASERS with the
best in vintage hot music - and me!
We'll also be presenting THE SINATRA YEARS with myself and Roger Nobes' KINGS OF
SWING featuring among others Jim Barry on piano and Sue Greenway on sax.
Jim will also be on hand to present with me a lunchtime cabaret spot.
All this - and full board - for £140.00 per
person!!!!
And you can explore the beautiful city of Chichester and
the lovely harbours in the area. |
Our
DIXIELAND TO SWING weekend - September 8th - 11th
features (back by popular demand) the BRIAN WHITE and
ALAN GRESTY RAGTIMERS (and me!) presenting the music and
songs of Muggsy Spanier, Bing and Bob Crosby, Louis
Armstrong and others.
Eleanor Keenan and I will be presenting ANYTHING GOES -
The Cole Porter Songbook - and more!! with the Jim Barry
Quintet and Sue Greenway.
I'm also thrilled to have the JAY CRAIG BIG BAND with
lovely vocalist Louise Cookman. South Downs
can cater for up to 300 guests for each weekend. At the
time of writing (mid January) numbers booked for both
are approaching 200!
I should point out that both South Downs events are
adults only.
